New Project Grants Available

Dear Art Educators,

For the first time, Kansas Art Education Association is offering grants to members that

may be used to purchase materials for your classroom for student centered instruction.

We know many of our members are dealing with budgets just too small to cover costs of

needed supplies to improve instruction. In order to support our members, we want to

offer a way to assist with these issues.

To be eligible for a Project Grant the applicant must:

1. Be a member of KAEA for at least 3 consecutive years prior to the grant

application date

2. Agree to present information related to use of the materials in the classroom at

the following KAEA state conference OR write an article for the KAEA newsletter.

3. If you receive a grant, you may not apply again for 3 years.

Grants CAN be used for:

1. Purchasing supplies or equipment for use with students (for example: a

classroom set of gelli plates)

2. Paying for bringing in a guest speaker related to instruction to visit with students.

Grants CANNOT be used for:

1. Purchasing supplies or equipment for your own personal use

2. Paying for college or university tuition

3. Paying for a trip

Grants will be awarded based upon:

1. The potential for the proposal: outcomes for students and/or the art program.

2. The quality and clarity of the proposal application.

Process:

Applications will first be reviewed by committee, then all viable proposals will be

reviewed by the full board at the June board retreat. The number of proposals funded

and the amounts awarded will be determined by the board based upon budget funds

available. These funds will be made part of the yearly budget.

If the applicant is awarded a grant, the awardee will be expected to purchase the items

themselves sometime during the fiscal year in which they were awarded. The awardee

will then submit receipts to the Treasurer to verify the purchase of the awarded items.

The Treasurer will reimburse the awardee the amount of the items up to, but not

surpassing the amount awarded.
