North East | Dia de los Muertos Festival Sunday, 11/2/25 10:00 am – 4:00 pm Cost: FREE A fall tradition for many Kansas City families, the DÃa de los Muertos (or Day of the Dead) festival commemorates the richness and beauty of Latin American cultures through art activities, entertainment, and traditional cuisine. This year’s DÃa de los Muertos altar is designed by artist Porfirio Gutiérrez and features a reimagined Zapotec symbol set within textiles and devotional lights. You are invited to spend time with your fellow art teachers while enjoying this year’s festival!

Kansas City Metro | Opening Reception for Educators: Painted Worlds Thursday, 11/6/25 5-7 PM Bloch Lobby and Gallery Spaces Educators, come enjoy refreshments before exploring our special exhibition Painted Worlds: Color and Culture in Mesoamerican Art. Mingle with colleagues as you learn about opportunities to share this fascinating exhibition with your students and take-home resources that can help you connect the exhibition’s themes with your classroom teaching. South West | Open Studio and Collaboration Time 10 am – 1 pm 500 E Chestnut Street, Ness City KS 67560 Join us for open studio time to complete your personal art projects that keep getting put to the side. Work on your own art project and enjoy the company of fellow art teachers in your area. There will be some time set aside for “Show and Tell”, so please bring something to show off from your classroom, and a snack to share!

South Central | WAM Art Studio and the Little Black Dress 5:30 – 7:30 pm Cost: FREE Halloween is almost here! Join the fun at the Wichita Art Museum on Friday, October 24th, from 5:30 to 7:30 PM for a FREE South-Central meet-up. Dress up in your favorite little black number and get ready for a night of community, art, fashion, and fun! Start by mingling with fellow educators in our Art Studio for some creative play. Then, enjoy a guided tour of WAM's collection. At 7 pm, don't miss the lively museum fashion show hosted by WAM Nights celebrating the exhibition, The Little Black Dress at 100. South Central | Plein Air Art with Pastels Friday, 10/21/25 9 am - 3 pm Botanica, The Wichita Gardens 701 Amidon, Wichita, KS 67203 Step into the beauty of Botanica Gardens and experience the joy of creating art in the open air! Guided by artist Lynn Felts, this hands-on workshop introduces pastel drawing techniques and invites you to capture the vibrant colors, textures, and scenery of the gardens through Plein Air artwork. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced artist, you’ll leave inspired with your own garden masterpiece. The workshop fee includes entrance to Botanica and materials. Please bring your own drink, a chair to sit on in the gardens, and any additional supplies you’d like to create with.
